Mercado multimillonario para el ‘atún negro’
La demanda de sushi ha creado un mercado negro para el atún, que mueve miles de millones de dólares. Gobiernos e industria pesquera han, a pesar de que la especie está en peligro de extinción, en muchos casos cooperado para eludir las reglas.
Según el estudio realizado por el International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, el mercado negro para el atún azul o común, también llamado atún de aleta azul, atún rojo o cimarrón, del Atlántico este, fue de un valor de 4 mil millones de dólares 1998-2007.
La peor pesca ilegal se llevó a cabo en Francia.
